Nexus internal hubs are almost like riding an automatic bike. Unlike the agony of stopping in 7th or 15th gear and its near impossible to get started again, with the Nexus 3 speed gears, you simply switch back to gear 1 without having to turn the pedals, then you’re ready to pedal away very easily. Riding a tandem bike with an old style derailleur is ok until you stop and realize the gear is still in a gear above 4 speed, its so difficult for 2 people to get started again
